Friends A Book of Quotations

I guess this is what you'd call a gift book. It is a collection of quotations about friends and friendships. So if you want some inspiration in this area, it's a quick and enlightening little read.  Here are a few cited in the book:

An honest answer is the sign of true friendship
Proverbs 24:26

It's the ones that you can call up at 4:00 a.m. that really matter.
Marlene Dietrich (Popcorn in Paradise)

Treat your friends as you do your best pictures, and place them in their best light.
Jennie Jerome Churchill

A friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.
Walter Winchell

A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway.
Fr. Jerome Cummings.

Friendship is one mind in two bodies.
Mencius

Kindness a Book of Quotations to Inspire and Console

Not long ago I finished reading a book Why Kindness is Good For You by David R. Hamilton, and this little book of quotations virtually says some of the same things but in a way students can easily understand. Sometimes a quote will ring a bell with you and stick with you forever. Some of my favourites from this book include:

Choose being kind over being right, and you'll be right every time.
Richard Carlson

The highest form of wisdom is kindness.
Linda Berman

Find the seed at the bottom of your heart and bring forth a flower.
Shigenori Kameoka

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.
Mother Teresa

No act of kindness, however small, is wasted.
Aesop

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.
The Dalai Lama

People who fight fire with fire usually end up with ashes.
Abigail Van Buren
